Gift Registry
Well we are finally looking organised now with everything coming along just perfectly. One of the things we had not done that a lot of people had asked us about was a gift registry. It was a fairly simple solution, send Sam off shopping! She has done a fantastic job of putting together GREAT list of items that are fun, needed, or just cool looking from Gawk & Leer in Seven Mile Shops here in Grand Cayman.

Wedding Cake – by Tortuga Rum Cakes
Previously we had looked at other options for our wedding cake. After a sit down with John from Azzuro Cafe, who is doing the catering, he got us all excited about what he would do with it. After we told him what we had in mind he started talking about what he had been wanting to do.
It turns out he has been wanting to make Rum Cakes and potentially even get into it with a local rum company, 7 Fathoms. So look forward to potentially being the first people to try a brand new Cayman Islands product specially made just for our wedding.
Entertainment & Music
Charlie Goes Electric – Flow
Ideas for music have been flakey or not very special up until recently. The other night we ventured by Calico Jacks, where we have heard people do open mic before and seen other bands playing .. but somehow we have never been there for Charlie Goes Electric. Whilst we have not booked them yet they are by far and away our top local choice right now and I am sure we will be emailing them soon enough. Check out the stuff below for some example or their Facebook Page for even more.
Cayman Wedding Catering by Azzuro
After running down a few options which seemed great at first lack of response from the caterers made us start looking elsewhere. Sam took the initiative to go speak to the gJohn from Azzuro. He was able to do everything we want to do at a great price. Infact they are taking control of more than we were expecting. We went to them with the below sample menu idea and I believe it is going to be fine tuned, added to and improved. (along with some special items for our veggie and pescitarian friends!)
We went down and had a sample meal and tried some wine pairings and we loved it all here is what to look forward to:
On the Grill:
Jerk Pork, Local Fish, BBQ Chicken
Sides:
Rice and beans, Celeriac coleslaw, Arugula salad, Tomato salad
Dessert:
Rum cake and berries… (as a wedding cake)

Organising the Honeymoon
Just tonight I have emailed the Verana in Yelapa, Mesico. It is a short journey south of Puerta Vallerta, which should be fairly easy to get to. Then a short drive out of the town of PV you get to a dead end in the road and you have to take a boat around the peninsula where you get to Yelapa and you can then walk up the hill to your private house while your luggage is brought up by a burro (thats a donkey before they ‘ito’ it and you can have it for dinner as the infamous burrito). The house I think we both like the most is the Tea House with the Mayan as a close second (i wouldn’t mind the Palapa myself either). Fingers crossed we get a very cool response of they have availability when we want to go and in one of the houses we like.
Beach Wedding Catering
Well as you may have guessed a lot of our wedding theme is going to be local orientated. Doing things locally is great for the environment and the economy. One of our favourite things locally is Jerk BBQ food. Recently at the Rackams hosted Cayman Jerk Off and there was some superb entries. My favourites were Aqua Beach and the Cayman craft market guys. Both had unique dishes and great flavour.
Either way what we would like for food at our wedding is local cooked and prepared Jerk BBQ food. Sure it’s roots are in Jamaiaca but the way it is done and being done in Cayman is it’s own. I can’t wait to be able to tuck in and stuff my face!
Will also be very cool to have a bbq on the beach and everyone just being able to grab what they want!
Places to Stay – Sunshine Suites Grand Cayman
I have been chatting with a very helpful lady at Sunshine Suites called Nadia. She has gone out of her way to provide the discounts for wedding groups to us regardless of the size (they normally like 10 rooms to be booked) and as we are in the prelim time still (no invites out yet) we have no idea how many will book at a hotel!
Anyway without further ado here is the hook up, and for that time of year it is GOOD !
